Aster elliottii (Marsh American Aster) is up to 5ft when in bloom. This versatile aster spreads by runners and makes a beautiful patch in regular garden soil and also in fresh-brackish water. Beautiful purple blooms in November provide a stunning display. When I took this picture, bees and butterflies were swarming all around the flowers! Native from Florida to Virginia.
