Chamaecyparis thyoides - Atlantic white cedar (also called swamp white cedar or southern white cedar)
This tree grow 40+ feet tall and 10-20 feet wide in a column-like shape. Prefers acidic soil in wet sites.
Native to the eastern US. Found from southern Maine to the Georgia area. Commonly found in wet boggy areas.
Evergreen green to blueish foliage.
Produces small round cones about 1/4 of an inch long. Good source of food for wildlife during the winter months.
