Post-planting update
2.5 years ago I purchased 5 baby wax myrtle from mailordernatives, and im thrilled to see how theyve thrived in that time. The female myrtles (3/5 plants), are now for the first time, producing bayberries! In abundance! When I first received the wax myrtles they were baby shrubs (around 9-12"). 2.5 years later they are around 6 feet tall, 4-5 feet width/length, with lovely dense foliage. Were zone 7b (north shore of long island), in a coastal area that experiences A LOT of high winds, rain (around 50" yearly) and temps that widely fluctuate. My wax myrtles have kept their leaves even through periods of snow and cold snaps. During some crazy wind storms my shrubs got a bit beat up (broken branches and whatnot) but i was surprised how well they fared (considering how many trees went down all over town), and they bounced back very quickly like nothing happened. Hands down best plant purchase ive ever made, fast growing native evergreen shrubs that are super low maintenance and they are beautiful and smell lovely and their berries support wildlife.
