Description

Prunus americana (American Plum) 15-25ft tall with equal spread; deciduous tree that can form colonies; attractive white spring flowers are followed by edible red fruit with yellow pulp. The plums are good, but not a top choice for food production. Plums are often used in jams and jellies.  Very good choice for wildlife. Tree can tolerate relatively dry sites, and will flower and fruit more readily in full sun.
