Rhododendron austrinum 'Moonbeam' is a selection by Aaron Varnadoe. According to George Wood, an avid plantsman from Tuscaloosa, "I've never seen a better R. austrinum." It is the first R. austrinum to bloom in his Tuscaloosa garden. Yellow fragrant blooms.

The product arrived well packaged, no damage, and very healthy. Since I planted the product is not looking as well as the other two native azaleas I received and planted at the same time in the same area. I believe that it's nothing more than root shock, and it will rebound and catch up with the other two.
Plant is big and healthy. It was ready to plant and enjoy.

My late aunt had been looking for this one for years and years. You can imagine my surprise when I found it by accident online. It almost felt like my aunt guided me to it. I had to buy two. They arrived smaller than the others but that is ok. They are being babied and growing. Every time I see these blooms I will think of her with fondness. Packed well and arrived in great shape.
