Stewartia malocodendron (Silky Camelia) large shrub 10-15ft tall, striking white flowers with purple centers line the stems of the shrub in July/August. This is certainly worthy of a place in the landscape. However, sometimes great beauty is paired with fickleness!! This species is especially susceptible to root rot..SO, plant in partial shade on a well-drained sight that has evenly distributed moisture.
Starter plant (1 & 3 gallon also available)
Zones 6(7)-9

hard to come by
I purchase 2 of those little trees, one was nicely rooted, but second one has problem, I believe roots got dried, and trying to correct- it was overwatered, resulting with rest of roots getting rotten. I still appreciate propagating this hard-to-find shrub.
