Description

lex verticillata 'Red Sprite' Winterberry : grows up to 4ft; compact Winterberry with heavy fruit set. Thrives in many different soil types: well drained to boggy. Very attractive and SOLID RED when in fruit. 'Red Sprite' is a female, and needs a male pollinator for fruit set. 'Jim Dandy,' 'Apollo,' and 'Skipjack,' are adequate pollinators for 'Red Sprite.'

    Good plants, doing well

    Ordered 11 , Red Sprite' Winterberry. They arrived 10 days later via UPS. Plants were wrapped well and despite the long transist from Florida to Oregon they arrived in good shape with little if any leaf loss or dehydration. The plants had very good root systems and were well potted. The root balls were encased in a plastic bag tied with a rubber band. This scheme appeared to work well. The tops were packed in shreeded newspapers. The packing box looks like it took a beating on the trip but was still solid. They have been in the ground for about a week now and are now showing new growth. I felt like I was taking a chance with the long distance but it seems to have worked out.
