Silphium astericus Starry Rosinweed
Silphium astericus (Starry Rosinweed) 3 ft. tall, great butterfly nectar plant. Specifically attracts swallowtail butterflies honeybees and many other pollinators. Nice yellow flowers July through September. Basal leaves very rough to the touch. Full sun; well drained or sandy soils.

These plants were big and were wrapped up tightly. They have so many blooms on them. Beautiful plants.

I love this plant and have had trouble sprouting seeds from the one I have. I am glad I ordered another starry rosinweed. It looks good and seems healthy. Something dug a hole right beside it the first night, but I believe it will recover.

I put in just one of these to see how it would do - it achieved 5-6 feet in height the second summer and is a butterfly magnet. It's already coming up this year and should be even more impressive.
