    Nice Rhodie for the south

I recently purchased my second R. chapmanii. I've had the first one for 2 years now and it has been great in our NC piedmont heat and humidity. The second one arrived in great condition and I expect it will do well, too. One note: the deer will browse these so protect them if possible. I put a cage around my 2 specimens. No blooms yet on the older specimen but hopefully it will bloom in the coming years.

I asked three Rhododendron experts, including Steve Hootman at the RSG, and they all agreed that the two plants I received were, in fact, R. minus and not R. chapmanii. However, I needed R. minus also so it's really no big deal!

This little Rhodi of the Chapman variety is so so so so so awesome and in top shape not that it matters too much to me but dang...5,000 star performance. Way to keep blowing me away mail order natives! So stoked.

    Native evergreen rhododendron

These are beautiful rare native plants. I plant in native acidic soil. Be careful not to over fertilize. I did that with one on a previous order, burned it do death in short order. The flowers are beautiful. I have these along with florida flame and pinxter azaleas along with mountain laurels on my "Berry Loop Trail"
